There is full documentation available in HTML format in the folder "Documentation". You need a browser to view this, but if you don't have one I'm asking myself why you should want to use this program anyway!
Very important: you need HyperCard or a HyperCard player (version 2.0 or higher) to use this stack. The HyperCard player is available at the Apple site (www.apple.com) or at your local Mac store (for free). PowerMac users should use at least version 2.3.5, which is native and thus ±3 times faster than previous versions! To take advantage of all features, use version 2.4 or newer.
If you have problems using the program, read the "Troubleshooting" file first before you start harassing me with mails. If you don't find an answer in there or you have discovered a bug, please contact me at:
alexander.thomas@student.kuleuven.ac.be
If you don't know a thing about HTML, I recommend reading the file "HTML_intro.html" in the Documentation folder. Although the stack does most things for you, you must still know at least HTML basics to make a good and error-free web page.
Mind that this program is not free (although very cheap), please read the section "ShareWare" in the documentation!
Important note: Mac OS Easy Open seems to cause unpredictable crashes when opening files in HC stacks under Mac OS 8. To avoid these crashes, turn off "Convert text documents" in the Mac OS Easy Open control panel.
Changes & New features in this version:
-Dynamic inclusions: when a file is included in other files and you edit the included file, the other files are updated automatically!
-Highlight text: makes all non-tag text bold.
-Clone file: when making a new file, you can copy the header and attributes of an existing file (hold down mouse on "New" button).
-You can now use any font for the editor fields!
-An e-mail address or a http:// link in a piece of text can be linked immediately: just select it and click the "Link" button!
-Scale imageMaps (proportional or non-proportional)
-If you try to open a file in the text importer that is too large, you can choose whether to convert the file without opening it, or to open the first 30000 bytes.
-Certain operations are slightly faster.
-The desktop no longer "flashes" when clicking in a palette.
A note about the dynamic inclusions:
The dynamic updating of files which have included files will not work immediately with files created in previous versions. To enable the dynamic linking, you must re-save each file which has inclusions with this new version. If you then edit one of the included files, it will be updated automatically.
You can see if an included file has dynamic links by looking at the end of the file, where the list of linked files is stored. Don't edit this list unless you know what you're doing.
